Laminate and vinyl flooring planks come in a different variety of colors and some can be scratch proof, waterproof, and water resistant. Laminate flooring is more durable and falls under the water resistant category because it is not a great choice for moisture prone areas. Installation of laminate flooring is a floating floor install, no nails or adhesive used and can be installed in any room except basements. Vinyl flooring on the other hand is fully waterproof but not as durable as a laminate.
