The installation of hardwood can either be nailed, glued or a combination of both depending on many different factors.

Laminate/Vinyl Floors

Laminate and vinyl floors are a more cost effective way of getting the look of solid hardwood flooring. Laminate and vinyl flooring planks come in a different variety of colors and some can be scratch proof, waterproof, and water resistant. Laminate flooring is more durable and falls under the water resistant category because it is not a great choice for moisture prone areas. Installation of laminate flooring is a floating floor install, no nails or adhesive used and can be installed in any room except basements. Vinyl flooring on the other hand is fully waterproof but not as durable as a laminate. Installation of a vinyl flooring is a floating floor install or a glue down install depending on the sub floor and type of vinyl flooring purchased. Vinyl can be installed throughout your home including the basement.
